BasicNeeds-Ghana (BNGh), a mental health and development advocacy organisation in Ghana, invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals, with good dispositions, to fill the vacancies of (1) Operations Manager, (2) Policy Research Coordinator, and (3) Communications and Publications Officer.

BasicNeeds-Ghana is a pioneer and reputable nonprofit non-governmental organisation that has operated in the mental health and development space of Ghana for 20 years now. The organisation implements an innovate and unique model for mental health and development, which is rights-based, people/ mental health-service user-centred, and recovery oriented.

Applicants must be willing and committed to working with persons living with mental health conditions, with limited English language literacy and numeracy, in deprived communities, and abiding by safeguarding principles and standards, and with no criminal record.

Operations Manager

The Operations Manager will be responsible for Business support, Human Resources, Safeguarding and Risk, as well as Information Communication Technology (ICT). The successful jobholder will be responsible to the Executive Director, a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) working under the supervision of the Executive Director. The desired person must have suitable academic and professional qualifications and working experience in the field(s) of administration, secretarial, stores, purchases, and supplies, as well as minimum ICT skills and competencies. This is a key personnel position within BasicNeeds-Ghana, subject to satisfactory work experience and recommendation of personal character and accomplishment.

Policy Research Coordinator

The Policy Research Coordinator will ensure BNGh actively contributes to evidence that promote inclusive, responsive, and accountable public policies and programmes. The Policy Research Coordinator will lead the review/ critique of public policies on their inclusiveness and responsiveness to the needs and rights of poor and vulnerable, most left behind persons affected by mental health conditions. S/he will lead in conducting primary research that build data (facts and figures) that inform(s) and influence(s) public policies and programmes in favour of the most vulnerable and help capacitate the disadvantaged to lead their own advocacy and self-representation.
The desirable candidate will be an individual suitably qualified and experienced in public policy research and public policy analysis, including crafting expert literature and presentations for public policy discussions. Have hands-on in implementation research/ implementation science experiences, data analysis, including the use of data analysis software (e.g. SPSS, Stata, NVivo etc), data collection, and management.

Communications and Publications Officer

The Communications and Publications Officer post-holder will be responsible for the communications materials and publications of BasicNeeds-Ghana, covering online/ virtual, paper, and other material-based publications. S/he will lead and as well, coordinate write-ups that Inform, Educate, and Communicate with beneficiaries, collaborators, funders, and the wider public about BasicNeeds-Ghana’s work. The Communications and Publications Officer will ensure all media platforms (website, LinkedIn, Twitter/ X, Facebook, and Instagram) of BNGh are up-to-date and wider communications with the print and electronic mass media are strong.

The suitable candidate should have relevant academic and professional qualification(s) and practical working experience in communications and publications. S/he must have exceptional writing skills with an amiable disposition.
